How would you like to earn a little extra credit?
We will now offer you the opportunity to come early (8 AM) and stay late (3:30 PM) to earn and learn a little more! During our “Coffee Chats” at 8 AM, we will go over resources that are available for your class. In the afternoon at “Happy 1/2 Hour”, we will discuss any issues you may be having and problem solve. The additional time is voluntary, but eligible teachers can earn extra money and additional in-service points.
Training Description:
Would you like to build your teacher toolkit with effective instructional strategies to increase student engagement and teach writing across various content areas to empower students with robust literacy skills that they can apply to real-world situations? This professional development (PD) session is designed to equip educators with strategies and techniques to seamlessly integrate writing across the curriculum.
Learning Intentions:
- Gain an understanding of the role of writing in content areas: We will discuss the connection between writing and content knowledge acquisition, highlighting how writing can deepen understanding and promote higher-order thinking skills in subjects such as science, mathematics, social studies, and more.
- Learn strategies for integrating writing across content areas: Participants will discover practical strategies for seamlessly integrating writing into content area instruction. We will discuss techniques such as quick writing, journaling, concept maps, and think-pair-share activities that enhance students’ ability to express their thoughts and ideas effectively.
- Collaborate and share resources: Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues, share successful writing activities, and explore a variety of online resources and tools that can support their efforts to integrate writing across content areas.

- Eligible teachers get paid $25.00 an hour for attendance plus in-service points.
